Today marks one month until our wedding day. One month, 30 days, 703 hours.

I can't hardly wait! <3 In one month I get to marry my best fried and celebrate with so many of our loved ones. <3

hashtag q&a

What's a hashtag? It helps you follow specific topics or themes in instagram or twitter.

Why are we using one? In case you take a photo or post something clever before the ceremony or at the reception. You can use #katematt2013, and then we'll be able to find what you shared.

Huh? Here's a fun tumblr that collected tweets and instagrams of the #appleandshoe wedding festivities. These are all collected in place because people used the #appleandshoe to designate the topic of their tweeet or photo!

Okay, I like that. Good.

pre- pom pom party pom pom party

Did you follow that?

A few weeks ago the moms and I got together and tried out different colors for pompom flowers for around the country club. We narrowed it down to our favorite colors and now mom has a NINE POUNDS of tissue paper waiting for the "official pom pom making party" in a few weeks.

can you guess which were our favorites?

Noticing Happy

“I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point “If this isn’t nice I don’t know what is.”

It's been a really great weekend. Yesterday we were beyond productive, for us, for a Saturday, and today we were nearly as lazy as possible. I said to Matt more than once how pleased I was with both days and our lives, our life together.  I needed a weekend like this. <3

We're closing in on a month til the wedding. Woah! Although, there are enough things on my list that I might want to start being concerned about crossing them all off. I'm just excited for what's to come - our big day, a bachelorette weekend in Chicago, celebrating with other friends, family coming to town, the rest of rsvps trickling in, finalizing paper goods, and of course, crossing the rest of the things off "my list." It's going to be quite a crazy 33 days!

saturday night

You guys, it's Saturday night! woohoo.

What are you up to? Out on a date night? Hitting up da club? haha.

Matt and I basically cleaned all day (here at home and at the masonic). Then Matt made chili, folded laundry and watched football while I made Clover Clubs and then knocked out 15 thank you notes, 1/3 done! Now I'm about to enjoy my most favorite hobby, adding RSVPs to the spreadsheet! Seriously, favorite thing.

it feels good to stay close to home this weekend.

feel

1. 2. 3.
A romantic and fun date night is a pretty great way of describing how we want our wedding and reception to feel!

How will we achieve that? Good tunes, a delicious dinner, dancing, mingling with loved ones and new friends, corners to sneak away too, lots of color and many hugs.

Invitations on Instagram

At this point all of you should have received your invitations and if you're here you probably have but if you haven't please let me know!

Adrienne posted these instagram photos of her design process once all the invitations had gone out. It has been so special to work so closely her on all of our paper goods! I wonder if she's sick of me yet and counting the days til the 29th?! (our paper goods deadline)
These are just snippets of the photos she posted, head over to #katematt2013 to see more!

That's a lot of growlers!

Another perspective, 30 growlers!!!

Woah!

getting my wedding crafty on

I have had a can of chalkboard paint gathering dust on a basement shelf for nearly as long as Matt and I have been dating. I always thought I'd love to have a chalkboard sign in the kitchen or try my hand at these chalkboarded wine glasses but never followed through.

A couple of Saturday's ago I was perusing my pinterest and remembered I had an entire board dedicated to signage. If I was going to make some signs for the around the venue (the big day is now 53 days away!) I needed to start putting brush to wood. Luckily Mum and Santi are project masters and have all sorts of different sizes of the same type of wood around from a recent basement makeover (I think, or maybe it was that recent valance diy).

So here I am, a Saturday afternoon in our backyard! testing wood for a chalkboard sign.

Bonus! Personalize your wine glass with chalk the next time you visit!

Welcome!

engagement photos are here!!

Ohmigoodness!!!! Mae sent us our engagement photos and I am oh, so, excited!!

I won't deny that I'm thrilled we were able to hire an exceptional photographer to document our day and that February day in Grand Rapids, when Kate & Matt were traipsing through the snow and drinking beers on the patio.

They'll be something we treasure forever.  Here's a sneak preview.

the country club and details of our day

Within the year I will be marrying my best friend, my love and I am so, so geeked!

We'll be tying the knot here, the Bay City Country Club:

Ceremony, reception, food, it'll all take place here. Happy, happy.

Adrienne VB created your invitations and the wonderful Save the Dates that brought you here. Thanks to Mae of Bryan & Mae for the fantastic photos. She'll be there to document our day.

Sometimes our day is the only thing I want to think, talk about, look for inspiration for and plan. I'll probably be sharing some of our planning process and lots of APW links.

Our next step is to talk flowers and cake.

Get geeked along with me, won't you?!

Fall 2012

Here we are half way through September, and it's time to consider it Fall. It's been celebrated by breaking out the long sleeves, wearing a few sweaters, enjoying a pumpkin spice latte, a salted caramel mocha, and a pumpkin chai. (hmm, sensing a trend)

Fall brings open windows, crisp air flowing through house, football, Matt making chili, a squash & stout extravaganza, more tea drinking in the evenings, halloween!

Fall...I love you. Next year we're going to celebrate our love among your colors. How cool is that?!

country club v. hotel

As you know we chose the Bay City Country Club, reasoning at the bottom. I thought it would be fun for you to some of our early wedding decision making here. You can view more photos of each venue in the links below.

the doubletree - bay city

we're currently waiting to hear back from both venues with some answers to our questions before we commit to either.

both are beautiful and have as many positives as the other.

that balcony in the ready room, the closeness to home, a downtown feel.
these things are making me lean towards the double tree.
but our preferred date is gone.
but we're flexible.

the balcony for our ceremony location, three separate areas for celebrating, a chef who is excited to create a seasonal menu and work with his clients.
these things makes me lean towards the country club.
but it's far away (20 minutes) and a country club with funny looking bathroom wall paper.
but there are fireplaces and a willow tree.

I am excited that Matt and I chose the Country Club. Our interactions with the staff there have been great, we've been out three or four times since making our choice. The space is large so people can spread out and catch up with one another. We'll be able to truly spread our character for the day throughout the space. We can't hardly wait for you to see it!

When I decided to put together this little site, I knew I wanted to add some personal touches and stories from the last few years. I think we're achieving that. You should check out this amazing story, featured on a pretty snazzy looking site.
