saturday night

You guys, it's Saturday night! woohoo.

What are you up to? Out on a date night? Hitting up da club? haha.

Matt and I basically cleaned all day (here at home and at the masonic). Then Matt made chili, folded laundry and watched football while I made Clover Clubs and then knocked out 15 thank you notes, 1/3 done! Now I'm about to enjoy my most favorite hobby, adding RSVPs to the spreadsheet! Seriously, favorite thing.

it feels good to stay close to home this weekend.

That's a lot of growlers!

Another perspective, 30 growlers!!!

Woah!

pre-dress fitting

I had my first dress fitting on Tuesday.
or as I sometimes (everytime) like to say to Matt, a pant suit.
It's a dress. It's beautiful.

Mom and I we're able to have lunch first.
and a watermelon mojito and glass of cabernet.

This is such an exciting time.

Traverse City growlers

Matt and I enjoyed a Friday on the road listening to podcasts and collecting a few growlers. My favorite brewery of the day was the new Terra Firma just out side of Traverse City.

growler collection "duties"

One of the easiest decisions we made around wedding planning (not that there were many tough ones, yay!) was that our centerpieces would be growlers. We love spirits, particularly beer, enjoy a good meal out and craft beer is a booming market pretty much everywhere.

Growlers are the containers craft breweries fill their tasty brews with for you to take home to enjoy. At Kuhnhenn's in they had a "history of the growler" printed on the back.
In the late 1800's and early 1900's, fresh beer was carried from the local pub to one's home by means of a small galvanized pail. Rumor has it that when the beer was sloshed around the pail it created a rumbling sound [a growl?!] as the carbon dioxide gas escaped through the lid, thus the term grower was coined.
Since tomorrow we'll be doing a bit more of this, I'm looking at you Short's and North Peak, and maybe you Terra Firma and Cheboygan, I figured I'd share some of our most recent growler collection adventures.

January - June 2012

we rang in the new year / ate lots of good food / flew to florida & I went red (head) / went skiing
it snowed / we drank beer / moved a bit / drank wine on a staycation
dressed up in anticipation / cleaned up the yard / received good things / went to dinner
and picked our drinks from an ipad / ate outside / bought flowers in rain / caught venus just before the sun sunk below the clouds
whined for food and wine at whine / started and finished the hunger games / drank out of cats / harvested basil

it's been a good year so far and i bet it will keep getting better!

lucky kitty glass

Isn't this kitty awesome?!

Incase you missed it.

A funny story. When the scene first started I noticed the glasses right away and had already rationalized to myself that we really didn't need these and we might never use them. Then Matt noticed them, looked at me and said, "We need those. Do you see what they are?!" :) I love him, no doubt about it.

The following Christmas Matt surprised me with four. They're as fun to use as I hoped!

a weekend away

Traverse City // Mission Peninsula // November 5 & 6, 2011

You know it's going to be a good sort of weekend when your waiter says, "I don't normally say this, but you know you guys are ordering a lot of food, right?" Oh, we knew it and it was and it was so totally worth it.

This weekend was total decadence. As much as we loved the food there's no photographic evidence, but here it is in drinks and scenery.
